We are delighted to announce that the LATA Foundation we will be attending LATA Expo 2020! We’ll be there to tell you all about the work we’ve been doing and how we can work together to support our projects in Latin America.
Set up 12 years ago, the LATA Foundation is the charitable arm of the Latin American Travel Association. It is a completely volunteer-led organisation which aims to give back to the continent we love, through social and environmental projects that truly make a difference. We thoroughly vet all the projects to make sure they meet our criteria and every penny raised goes directly to helping people on the ground.
We’ll be at Expo 2020 to tell you more about what we do, how we do it, our current projects, and how you can get involved. We know that the travel industry is going through a difficult time at the moment, so all we’re asking for is a little bit of your time to see how we can keep in touch and keep working together to support vulnerable communities in Latin America.
Sadly, as a result of Covid-19, we started to receive requests for urgent help and assistance which led to the creation of our Emergency Covid-19 appeal. We are pleased to have been able to provide extra assistance for a number of essential projects such as: supporting sanitary and medical measures for street children in Santa Cruz Bolivia; providing PPE for medical staff in Venezuela and traditional midwives working in remote areas in Guatemala; and helping provide food parcels for porters in Peru who are left without work due to the restrictions on tourism.
