Today the LATA Foundation, LATA’s charitable arm, has launched the PERU 25for25 Challenge to raise funds for out-of-work Inca Trail porters in Peru.
As many of you know, there has been no tourism in Peru since March 2020 and with a second lockdown in Peru, the porters now face another season with no work and with no government support they are really starting to struggle.
The campaign PERU 25for25 calls on all those who have trekked the Inca trail and the wider Travel industry to challenge themselves to take on 25 miles (a run, swim, walk or whatever format they prefer) throughout March 2021 to raise money for this cause with their own fundraising target. Each £25.00 raised will cover an essential food parcel for one porter and their family for one month with 100% of donated funds going directly towards the purchase of these food parcels.
